skinny t

i don't know why i like that skinny t. it breaks all the rules. the y is so bad, i had a hard time posting this one. i'm thinking i need to start a blog of just the ones that meet with my approval. when i did the 60 for kathy, it was more of an exercise in amusing myself. i didn't imagine that they would ever be posted for the entire world to scrutinize. i wonder what i would call a blog of the ones that are *ok.* i get a little sad thinking about segregating the envelopes into the good ones and the bad ones. i anthropomorphize things, which is silly. but, i suppose it is better to be silly than some other things.

  1. That skinny t is cool on several counts. It mirrors the skinniness of the diagonals in the K. Also its vertical bar makes a nice parallel with the vertical bar in the h. I don't see anything objectionable in the y.
For the record I am inspired by this blog -- partly for all the fun, whimsical artwork, and partly for all the stories about it.

  2. the part of the y that is furthest to the right, and hits the r in schneider is way to fat. i do this kind of writing with a brush marker and i go back and make second strokes at the ends and pull back into the letter. that y is just way too fat compared to the other back strokes. it is fun to write one name over and over. it makes you look for interesting combinations. sadly...carrie is a name with no ascenders or descenders, so it would be a challenge to get relly creative with it...but i am up to a good challenge. as soon as i get through the wedding of a dear friend (this weekend) i will start the carrie challenge :-)
